Step 1

Slit the vanilla pods lengthways.

Put the sugar and water in a pot, bring to the boil and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.

Now take the vanilla pods out of the pot and put in each jar.

Mix the liquid from the pot with the cognac and distribute it among the jars.

Close carefully and store in a cool place until ready to use.
